Prior to Thursday's game, however, major injury news struck. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was ruled out of Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers due to a blood clot . The Eagles have not announced how long Hurts will be sidelined due to the issue.

In other quarterback news, there's the AFC North clash between the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns, which should draw plenty of eyes amid quarterback Lamar Jackson's potential return from an ankle injury that kept him out of Week 5. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter , a league source says Jackson has a "realistic chance" of playing this week.

Some other injury news we'll be monitoring ahead of Week 6: Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey (foot) didn't play a snap despite being active last week. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams (hamstring) has a chance to return after practicing in full Wednesday , while Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is still expected to start after suffering a rib injury on Sunday night.

That's just a small look at what the league is serving up in Week 6. Follow along with Yahoo Sports for the latest NFL news, injury updates and more as we break down all you need to know ahead of this week's action.

Last week, the Arizona Cardinals traded the No. 4 overall pick from two years ago, shipping off wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Houston Texans . This week, the Cardinals ruled out this year's No. 3 overall pick, revealing that running back Jeremiyah Love will be sidelined with an ankle injury for Sunday's road game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Harrison never realized his potential in the desert, and Love's off to a concerning start during his rookie campaign.

His latest ankle issue, this one affecting his left, has noticeably limited his impact of late. First-year head coach Mike LaFleur told reporters Friday that holding Love out this week is "what's right" for the Notre Dame product.

LaFleur also said there's been "no discussion of IR" when it comes to Love, who he believes, with adequate time to rest, could come back himself, both as a ball carrier and as a receiver.

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Joey Porter Jr. was a full participant in Thursday's practice and expects to play against the Green Bay Packers in Week 6.

Porter sat out Week 5's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his second game with the Cowboys after being traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers, after becoming ill on gameday.

"I really just couldn't hold anything down," Porter said on t he Cowboys' official website . "You know, I just kept throwing up. I try to fight through. I tried to take a nap before the game, just to shake it off, but I just couldn't hold in deep down."

The status of Arizona Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love is up in the air, particularly after the rookie has now missed practice for the second straight day with an ankle injury.

Love, the No. 3 overall pick in this year's draft, has gotten off to a slow start this season.

He's averaging only 3.7 yards per carry, and he's recorded a mere 36 receiving yards. Love entered the league with impeccable prospects, both as a ball carrier and as a receiver out of the backfield.

The Cardinals will face the Los Angeles Rams on the road this week.

The Houston Texans have ruled out running back David Montgomery, safety Jalen Pitre and receiver Tank Dell for Week 6's matchup in London versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. Neither player will make the trip overseas.

Neither Montgomery (groin) nor Pitre (shoulder) have participated in practice this week, after sustaining injuries during Week 5's 26-3 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Dell (knee) was a full participant on Wednesday and Thursday. He missed the entire 2025 season and the first 5 games of 2026 while recovering from a serious injury in which he tore multiple ligaments and damaged his meniscus in 2024.

Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice did not practice on Thursday with multiple injuries, making it likely that Kansas City will be without their top receiver on Sunday. Rice, who left the Chief's Week 4 win over the Raiders early after pulling up awkwardly , is listed as dealing with issues with his hamstring and his knee.

The Chiefs will return to the field on Sunday after a bye last week, but multiple receivers being wiped out with injuries has raised questions. (Things appear worrying enough that Kansas City appears to be weighing other options, like signing Tyreek Hill .)

After being limited in practice on Wednesday, Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez was a full participant in Thursday's practice, according to the team's injury report.

That upgrade points to a potential return this week, as New England takes on the Jets on Sunday. Gonzalez has missed the last two games while dealing with a shoulder injury.

For the second day in a row, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson did not practice while recovering from an ankle injury, per the team's injury report. Jackson did not practice on Wednesday , with head coach Jesse Minter telling reporters that the QB is considered day-to-day.

Jackson left the Ravens' Week 4 win over the Titans with a sprained ankle , and was replaced by backup Tyler Huntley to start the second half. Multiple reports indicated that Jackson left the stadium in a walking boot.

With Jackson out for Week 5, Huntley led the Ravens to an impressive comeback to beat the Falcons in overtime .

Receiver Christian Kirk had his practice window opened by the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, the team announced .

Kirk, 29, has been on injured reserve with a calf injury suffered during training camp. Last season, the eight-year veteran registered 28 receptions for 239 yards and 1 touchdown, limited to 13 games (3 starts) due to a hamstring strain.

He signed a one-year, $6 million contract with the 49ers in March.

The 49ers could use help at receiver with Deebo Samuel struggling with a hamstring injury. Mike Evans leads the team with 24 catches for 336 yards and 3 TDs.

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty, who sprained his ankle ahead of the 2026 season, says that he's feeling great at this point in the year. When speaking to reporters on Thursday, Jeanty confirmed that it was the best he'd felt all season.

Jeanty, who played in all 17 games for the Raiders as a rookie last year, hasn't missed any games with the injury. He's racked up 291 rushing yards across Las Vegas' first five games.

Along with a rib injury, Evans is dealing with Achilles soreness, according to 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan.

The wideout caught 10 passs for 113 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's win over the Seahawks. He's yet to miss a game this season.

Williams also clarified to the media he suffered a hamstring tear, not a strain.

As for how he feels, Williams said: "It's felt good but it's different when you have to go through a whole week of practice and you've got to prepare for a game and all that, the stress on the mind, body and spirit."

The Bears face the Falcons on Sunday afternoon.

The Ravens quarterback remains out of practice after missing Week 5 due to an ankle injury.

Jackson suffered a sprained ankle during Baltimore's 24-18 win over the Titans in Week 4. After not practicing last week, he was eventually ruled out two days before the Ravens' Sunday night overtime win against the Atlanta Falcons.

Head coach Jesse Minter said Monday that Jackson was improving, but that he wanted to see how the quarterback performed in practice before making a decision on his Week 6 availability against the Browns.

Mayfield injured his thumb in Week 3 and has not returned to playing. Jalon Daniels will get the start again this week against Pittsburgh.

"It's just not quite ready," said Tampa offensive coordinator Zac Robinson on Thursday.

The Patriots opened Brown's 21-day practice window on Wednesday. The wideout has not played since injuring his ankle in Week 1. He remains on injured reserve and off the team's 53-man roster until he's officially activated.

The Philadelphia Eagles have ruled out quarterback Jalen Hurts for Week 6, revealing that he is dealing with a "superficial blood clot."

The team released a statement on Thursday saying that on Oct. 8 Hurts asked the Eagles' training staff to treat his calf after being cleated during their game against the Los Angeles Rams days earlier. An ultrasound was performed on Oct. 10 after the team flew to London. The results showed a superficial blood clot, but that "activity and mobility were important and that Jalen could safely play."

A follow-up ultrasound was recommended after Hurts and the team returned from England.

"Jalen played without limitation in the game Sunday, received treatment on Monday and Tuesday, and practiced in full on Wednesday, as reflected in the practice report. Throughout our time in London and this week, we have remained in communication with the league office regarding the matter.

"On Wednesday night, a follow-up ultrasound revealed movement in the small blood clot. Jalen will be out for Sunday's game vs. the Panthers as we determine the appropriate course of treatment. His health and safety are our highest priority."

Browns starting running back Quinshon Judkins did not practice on Wednesday, and he is dealing with an ankle injury.

Judkins will have two more practice sessions this week before getting a game designation on Friday. If he can't play on Sunday against the Ravens, Cleveland will use a combination of Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime in the backfield.

Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur said running back Jeremiyah Love would not practice on Wednesday as he works on recovery from his ankle injury and gets extra rest.

LaFleur said they want to give him extra rest and see, as the week goes on, what that means for Sunday.

It seems likely that the Jets will once again be without starting running back Breece Hall and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell in Week 6. Head coach Aaron Glenn stated that the two are still considered "week-to-week" on Wednesday as they work their way back from their respective injuries.

Hall has been out of the lineup since suffering a quad injury in Week 3, with backup Braelon Allen leading the run game in his absence, totaling 175 rushing yards and a score on the ground over the past two weeks.

Mitchell was off to a solid start this season with back-to-back games of 60-plus receiving yards in Weeks 1 and 2 before suffering a finger injury. Glenn confirmed Wednesday that Mitchell underwent a small procedure on his hand but that he is "moving his fingers around really, really well."

The Colts released their Wednesday practice report .

The report listed both Jonathan Taylor and Keenan Allen, but noted they were simply getting extra rest.

Allen did not practice, while Taylor was limited.

For now, there is no cause for concern, but if a future injury report cites an actual injury rather than rest, then there is concern about their availability for Sunday's game against the Titans.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans spoke to reporters after Wednesday's practice. Wednesday marked the first time we've seen new Houston wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. take the field since the Texans acquired him from the Cardinals.

Ryans told reporters that Harrison will make his Texans debut on Sunday when Houston takes on the Jaguars in London.
