The pair became close when the actress was married to Brandon's father,Narvel Blackstock, between 1989 and 2015. Brandon's family announced his death hours after he passed away on August 7, following a three-year battle with cancer. "It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away," the statement, shared withParade, read. "Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time." The family continued to honor Brandon in hisobituary, which was published hours after Reba broke her silence. The Texas native was remembered by following his dreams in the music industry and spending his final days with nature in the country. Brandon's obituary contained a shocking revelation as his "loving partner" wasidentified as Kelly's former assistantBrittney Marie Jones.
