Next, as the recipe calls for, use a cleaver to flatten the breasts until they're an even thickness. Then, evenly coat both sides of each chicken breast in flour. In a large saucepan, heat up your butter and olive oil until they begin to sizzle. Add in the chicken breasts and sauté them evenly on both sides. Let them cook until they're crispy and golden brown, which only takes a few minutes. Next, make the sauce. Add some flour to the same pan you cooked the chicken in. Cook the flour for about one minute, then pour in the chicken broth and lemon juice. Once combined, reduce the heat, and add the chicken back to the pan. After the sauce has reached your desired consistency, place the chicken breasts over abed of cooked rice, and pour the sauce on top. Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon slices. Jordan to Receive American Cinematheque Award Movie stardom has been what Jordan has been working towards since making the career jump from television to films. The actor appeared in movies like "Hardball" as a kid, but his TV supporting roles on "The Wire" and "Friday Night Lights" are what really made him one to watch. "I was really, really, really unsure of what my career was going to be [12 years ago]," Jordan said. "Am I a TV actor? Where am I going? And I was like, 'Man, I just want an independent film.' I can show what I can do, and I just need to know if I could carry a film or not, if I could be a lead." The script for "Fruitvale Station" ended up making its way to Jordan and a meeting with the film's director, Ryan Coogler, got added to his schedule. JOHANNESBURG (AP) — A second groupof white South Africanshas arrived in the United Statesunder a refugee programannounced by the Trump administration, officials and advocacy groups said Monday. Nine people, including families, arrived late last week, said Jaco Kleynhans, head of international liaison at the Solidarity Movement, a group representing members of South Africa's white Afrikaner minority. The group traveled on a commercial flight to Atlanta, he said. A spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy said in an email to The Associated Press that "refugees continue to arrive in the United States from South Africa on commercial flights as part of the Afrikaner resettlement program's ongoing operations." An initial group of 59 white South Africansarrived at Dulles International Airport in Virginiaon a chartered flight last month under the new program announced by U.S.President Donald Trumpin February. The Trump administration fast-tracked the resettlement of white South Africans afterindefinitely suspending other U.S. refugee programs. The Trump administration said it is offering refugee status to white South Africansit alleges are being persecutedby their Black-led government and are victims of racially motivated violence. The South African government has denied the allegations and said they are a mischaracterization of the country. Trump has falsely claimed that white South African farmers are targeted inwidespread attacks that amount to genocideand are having their land taken away. Trumpconfronted South African President Cyril Ramaphosawith those baseless claims during a meeting at the White House last month. Ramaphosa has said the relatively small number of attacks on white farmers are part of South Africa's larger problems with violent crime, which affects all races. The Trump administration initially said the refugee program was aimed at members ofSouth Africa's Afrikaner minority, who are descendants of mainly Dutch and French colonial settlers. In new guidance published by the U.S. Embassy last month, applicants must be "a member of a racial minority" in South Africa and "must be able to articulate a past experience of persecution or fear of future persecution." There are approximately 2.7 million Afrikaners among South Africa's population of 62 million, which is more than 80% Black. They are not the only white minority. There are around 4.5 million whites in total, including those with British or other heritage. The U.S. Embassy spokesperson said the U.S. "continues to review inquiries from individuals who have expressed interest to the embassy in resettling to the United States and is reaching out to eligible individuals for refugee interviews and processing." While U.S. officials have not said how many South Africans have applied to be relocated, Kleynhans said there have been around 8,000 applications. GUATEMALA CITY (AP) — A Guatemalan court ordered Monday the arrests of Colombia's attorney general and a former Colombian defense minister who led a U.N. anti-corruption mission in Guatemala. Guatemalan prosecutorRafael Curruchiche, who himself has been sanctioned by the United States and other countries for allegedly interfering in corruption investigations, had requested that an appeals court issue the arrest orders for Colombia's top prosecutor Luz Adriana Camargo Garzón, who was the chief of investigations of the Guatemala mission, and Iván Velásquez, who had led the mission and later was Colombia's defense minister. Curruchiche said Camargo and Velásquez had committed illicit association during their investigation into bribes paid to Guatemalan officials by Brazilian construction giant Odebrecht. Along with former Guatemalan prosecutors working with the U.N. mission, Velásquez and Camargo were part of "a criminal structure led by the former CICIG commissioner," using the Spanish initials of the U.N. mission, Curruchiche alleged. Curruchiche had long ago focused his investigationon an agreement the anti-corruption prosecutorshad signed with Odebrecht that would offer reduced penalties in exchange for the company's cooperation in the investigation. His boss, Prosecutor General Consuelo Porras, has also beensanctioned by the U.S. and other governmentsfor blocking corruption investigations. Last week, aU.N. expert warned her office was using criminal law to pursue enemies. Velásquez responded via X after learning of the accusations. "So now the corrupt Guatemalan attorney general and her prosecutor Curruchiche – designated as corrupt and sanctioned by the United States and the European Union – extend their persecution for Luz Adriana Camargo and me," Velásquez wrote. "My solidarity with the former officials and so many Guatemalan citizens who the Attorney General's Office has forced into exile." Camargo did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Among those former Guatemalan prosecutors forced into exile was Juan Francisco Sandoval, who led the special prosecutor's office against impunity. Sandoval, who led the Odebrecht investigation with support from the U.N. mission and has beenliving in exile in the United States, said last month in a statement that Curruchiche's investigation was "a sham and a manipulation strategy." The U.N. mission operated in Guatemala from 2007 to 2019, when then-President Jimmy Morales decided to not renew its mandate, after it linked members of his family to a case. A right-to-die activist questioned for murder after the death of a womanusing a suicide podhas died by assisted suicide. Florian Willet suffered a mental health crisis after he was arrested by Swiss police in September last year, said Philip Nitschke, the inventor of the Sarco suicide capsule. Mr Willet was the director of Last Resort, the Swiss suicide organisation, which was set up to facilitate the use of the Sarco. The 47-year-old German was investigated for aiding and abetting suicide. Prosecutors also investigated whether he had strangled the woman, but that was ruled out before he was released in December after 70 days of pre-trial detention. "Gone was his warm smile and self-confidence. In its place was a man who seemed deeply traumatised by the experience of incarceration and the wrongful accusation of strangulation," said Mr Nitschke, the director ofExit International, the pro euthanasia group. The Australian former physician, who is called "Doctor Death" by his critics, said Mr Willet sought help and was admitted to a psychiatric hospital twice before his death on May 5. Mr Nitschke told the Dutch newspaper Volkskrant that Mr Willet had died in Germany with the help of an unnamed specialised organisation. It is not known how he died. "To describe Florian is to talk of a man who was thoughtful, caring, funny, and friendly. He was an easy person to be around," said Mr Nitschke, who lives in the Netherlands. "But most of all, Florian was kind. Florian was also passionate about a person'sright to choose when to die." Suicide is legal under certain conditions in Switzerland, but the pod had never been used before and there were warnings it would be illegal. Mr Willet was the only person present when a 64-year-old American woman, who has not been named, pressed a button to fill the Sarco pod with nitrogen gas. The woman had suffered from an immune disease. He informed the authorities after her death in a forest in the canton of Schaffhausen but was arrested, along with several others, including a newspaper photographer. They were later released but Mr Willet, a former media spokesman for euthanasia clinic Dignitas, continued to be detained. He had described thefirst death in the controversial Sarco podas "peaceful, fast and dignified". The 3D-printable capsule cost about £550,000 to research and develop in the Netherlands over 12 years. Last Resort has said that future reusable pods could cost about £12,600. "By the age of five I took my own dying by suicide into consideration," Mr Willet said in an interview before his arrest. He revealed his father had died by suicide when he was 14 and claimed he was "completely fine with it." He added: "I was extremely sad because I loved my father. But, I understood immediately my father wanted to do this because he was a rational person, which means that expecting him to remain alive just because I need a father would mean extending his suffering."
