The original Ben and Jen smiled with genuine warmth for the cameras at Monday's New York City bow of the glossy musical. Affleck showing up to support his fiancée–turned–ex–turned–wife–turned–ex wasn't purely personal, however; he executive produced the film via Artists Equity, the production company he runs with lifelong pal Matt Damon. Still, Lopez thanked Affleck specifically during her pre-screening introduction, perPEOPLE: "Thank you, Ben. This movie wouldn't have been made without Ben and without Artist Equity." Slaven Vlasic/Getty Affleck returned the love that evening during a red carpetinterview with Extra, saying that inKiss of the Spider Woman, Lopez found "the role that she was born to play." "She's amazing in this movie, I just can't wait for audiences to see this movie," he continued, adding, "It was obvious to me very early on, with Jennifer's involvement in this, that she was going to die or be great. She was just going to give it her all. She worked enormously hard, and in this role, you get to see all of her many gifts." Affleck and Lopez first met in 2002 on the set of their filmGigli. They were engaged by year's end, and broken up by the start of 2004. Over the following decade and a half they remained friends, but the fellow feeling grew deeper and more substantial, leading to a romantic rekindling in 2021.
