They connected in the pods, and Patrick opened up about how his dating experience in Denver as an Asian man hadn't necessarily been a positive one. Both Patrick and Kacie were positive they'd found their soul mates and she happily accepted when he proposed, but after meeting in person, things didn't go as planned. Shortly after they met, Kacie was seen in tears while sitting in a hotel room. "He just deserves someone so much better than me," she told producers. When she met up with Patrick in the hotel lobby, she told him she couldn't "do this anymore" and that she "needed to go home." The hair and makeup artist was confusing in her delivery of what she really wanted to do. Patrick asked if she "wanted to break up" with him, and she replied, "Yeah. No." Patrick took it to mean she simply didn't want to take the trip to Baja with the other engaged couples, and he told producers that he "thought he would probably take it slow with her moving forward." However, producers showed a clip of them speaking to Kacie earlier and she said, "Unfortunately, I don't think my attraction to him is going to grow that much, and it sucks."
