Kennedy Jr.ended her job and her relationship last year. On Aug. 24,Semaforreported thatVanity Fair's new top editor, Mark Guiducci, is looking to hire some "splashy" writers in his attempt to refresh the magazine — one of whom is Nuzzi, a former"30 Under 30"honoree who relentlessly covered MAGA insiders after becomingNew Yorkmagazine's first-ever Washington correspondent in 2017. Semafor did not offer details about whether Nuzzi has been formally offered a job atVanity Fair, but reported that Guiducci and Nuzzi have "had conversations" about her joining the magazine team as a writer. "Had the magazine been aware of this relationship, she would not have continued to cover the presidential campaign," the statement continued. New Yorkmagazineplaced Nuzzi on leavebefore ultimatelyparting ways with her. Nuzzi, then 31, shared her own statement to PEOPLE as the scandal unfolded, saying "the nature of some communication" between her and a reporting subject had "turned personal," though she claimed she "did not directly report on the subject nor use them as a source" during that period. "The relationship was never physical but should have been disclosed to prevent the appearance of a conflict," she said. "I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to those I've disappointed, especially my colleagues atNew York." Though Nuzzi andNew Yorkomitted the name of the subject in question, a source with knowledge of the incident quickly toldCNNthat the person in question was Kennedy, then 70, whodropped out of the 2024 presidential racea month prior to endorse former PresidentDonald Trump. Tasos Katopodis/Getty Images for CBS News In the weeks after Nuzzi was placed on leave, numerous rumors emerged about the nature of her relationship to Kennedy, who has been married to actressCheryl Hinessince 2014. Nuzzi herself was engaged to Ryan Lizza, Politico's chief Washington correspondent, when the news broke. The allegations centered around a narrative that Nuzzi and Kennedy had grown close during the campaign and exchanged lewd texts. Many of the most shocking details came from Lizza, who is now her ex-fiancé. Amid a messy court dispute, Lizza accused Nuzzi of engaging in "catastrophically reckless behavior." According to Lizza, Nuzzi had described her alleged relationship with Kennedy as "toxic," "unhealthy," "stupid," "psychotic," "crazy," and "indefensible," acknowledging the "huge power disparity" between her and Kennedy,CNNreported, citing the court filing. Nuzzi allegedly told Lizza that Kennedy wanted to "control," "possess" and "impregnate" her, according to that same filing. Justin Sullivan/Getty A spokesperson for Kennedy toldTheWall Street Journalthat Lizza's account of the dynamic between Nuzzi and Kennedy "is not true." The reppreviously deniedthe reports of a relationship altogether, saying, "Mr. Kennedy only met Olivia Nuzzi once in his life for an interview she requested, which yielded a hit piece." Speaking to PEOPLE in 2024, a Kennedy spokesperson said, "The accusations about Robert Kennedy are categorically false and he will not participate in reporting on triple hearsay allegations made in a dispute between other people." Following the scandal, Kennedy went on to become Trump's secretary of health and human services. Read the original article onPeople
