Streep, 76, sat front row at the show beside her costar,Stanley Tucci, who also appeared to be in character asRunwayart director Nigel Kipling from the film, while formerVogueeditor-in-Chief Anna Wintour — who famously inspired the role of Miranda Priestly — sat opposite Streep at the show. CostarSimone Ashleywas also seated behind the fictional fashion icons and appeared with them after the show. Ashley will be playing a new character in the highly anticipated sequel. Before attending the show, Streep and Wintour, 75, met each other and the pair appeared to get along splendidly, as seen in avideoposted on Instagram byVogue. She accessorized her outfit with a stack of gold chain necklaces and a pair of black sunglasses, while sporting her longtime bob haircut.
