Fears of a devastating tsunami swept through Japan and across the Pacific to Hawaii, the West Coast and Alaska after a massive 8.8-magnitude earthquakes struck off Russia's east coast, butpanic was replaced by reliefas the threat eased and evacuation orders were lifted.
